We're looking for a volunteer Translation Guide for our unique Responsible Tourism program! "You get to have an intimate conversation with the female entrepreneurs about their business, their personal life, their struggles and their achievements." This is Flor, a former guide, speaking about what she loved about the role. So if you're in Oaxaca, speak advanced Spanish and English and most of all would love to be part of facilitating real exchange and dialog, this could be jus...t the opportunity! You can find more about this - and other volunteer posts available - at envia.org/volunteer. And to read more about what Flor and Sarah, two of our translation guides, have loved about the work, visit their blog at https://wp.me/p3gIf8-bUwj9.

We're hopeful that soon we can re-start our amazing Responsible Tours program and are looking for volunteer guides who are currently In Oaxaca. So, what is a Responsible Tour? For us at En Vía it means that - tour fees are used to fund a micro-finance and education program for female entrepreneurs - visitors get a unique insight into the life of women in the communities around Oaxaca and the entrepreneurs get chance to present and explain their business. Visitors might meet a... weaver, a candle maker, a shopkeeper, a tortillera, an embroiderer, or any one of many other professions and will have chance to talk with them, learn about their crafts, challenges and communities Sounds like just your thing? There's more info on our website envia.org/volunteer. And if you're interested in taking a tour, watch this space! We'll be posting more details very soon.

You know how soul-destroying it is when pests come and destroy the vegetable crops you've spent months tending? Well our Growing Strong Coordinator, Rosa, has been sharing her knowledge about organic methods to make sure that doesn't happen to the entrepreneurs who chose to have a Growing Strong vegetable garden. Most of the entrepreneurs in San Miguel del Valle chose to have a chicken farm rather than a vegetable garden as the water supply there is poor and they felt that ...chickens would be more manageable. But two women bravely chose the family vegetable garden, and so Rosa went a couple of weeks ago to run a workshop specifically for them. As well as dealing the pests, she also shared information about the best time to sow seeds and how to increase their harvests. Luckily photographer Payton Haynes, with his own passion for organic farming, was able to go along and give us an insider's view! See more
