CONNECTED COSPLAY PHOTOGRAPHY. SHOWCASING TALENTED PHOTOGRAPHERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD from MEXICO..... Q & A Name: Paco J. Lemus (Pako Kameko) Location: Mex...ico City, Mex. Occupation: Student Website: www.facebook.com/pakokameko http://pakokameko.weebly.com Credits: (Photographers ect.). When and how did you get started in Cosplay? I started as a cosplay photographer in February 2014, I'd been in photography for 3 years by then and I was getting interested in portraits, I started working with random models but soon I was getting bored of the same concepts all the time, so I got interested in cosplay after seeing pictures of a Concomic. I went to my first convention and discovered a whole new world of concepts, but mostly, people eager to be photographed and it was like heaven. What was your first Cosplay? My first cosplay photographs were for Diana Tsukino, who always do different versions of the same character: Serena from Sailor Moon, we still work together pretty often. What was the most difficult character? The most difficult character to photograph have been the dark ones, specially in places like Michoacán where the weather is always very sunny. What characters are you planning for the future and type of character are you drawn to? I'll photograph anything I like, I'm specially interested in Lolitas and some combinations between cosplay and urban looks. What is your process when starting from the begining with a new cosplay? The process for me to take a photograph session starts with looking at some pictures of the original characters to make a script, then a look at other cosplayers pictures, and finally I try to take it to the place where we are working. Sometimes is hard to choose the locations cause not all of them are avaible for us to work, there are some law restrictions and stuff like that, Historical places are always difficult to use. Finally working with lights requieres testing shoots and thinking of the adecuate light for each character (not always doing well on that). Are there any helpful hints in sewing, costume design or any other aspects of your cosplay that you discovered in doing your creations? Hints on pictures: I started working with a 50 mm lens because it gives you te chance to get more light, even in dark spaces and also you can get ride of the backgrounds if they have lots of people in there by creating a bokeh, so I think is a great way to start in cosplay portarit photography, also getting a flash and geto to know it well gives you new opportunities, mostly bringing a lot of color to what you are capturing. Do you have a preferred brand of make up in your cosplay? And if so why? I have a preferred brand of camera: Canon, and also I use yongnuo flashes and triggers, I love working with translucid umbrellas, specially in open spaces. What are you listening to? A lot od different styles. Favorite Movies? supeheroe movies Favorite Animes? Saint Seiya, Shingeki, Death Note Favorite TV Shows? Cop series Is there a scene from a anime, cartoon, movie or tv show that left a big impression on you and what was it? In X-men, the first class I really liked the arguments among Magneto and Charles X Xavier about the inocence of soldiers. Books? Novels Games? War games Beverage? Beer Fast Food/ Junk Food of choice? Tacos Candy bar? Favorite Breakfast cereal? Corn Flakes Is there something not going on in the cosplay world that you would want to see or is there something you would want to change? I'd like to see more characters of the first days of comic en Latin America, specially in Mexico, people here is only looking at anime or american comics and we also had a tradition on it, a few things, but they exist. What was your favorite toy growing up? My Nintendo NES Who is your biggest character crush and why? Juliet Starling is just so hot. You enter a warehouse. There is little light, but you are able to find your way around. The sound of music draws you to a corner of the warehouse. There are FIVE GHOUL CLOWNS, playing a dancing video game. They have razor sharp teeth and scary weapons. Magic can not affect them; they sense your presence and turn facing you. They run to you to attack. Time to fight! What character would you want to be to defeat them and how would you handle the situation? I'd love to be wolvering, that way I'm sure I'd kick they asses so freaking hard. If you had to be chained with a character for one year, what would be the character and what would you do? I think I'd like to be with Tony Stark, I'm sur he'd find the way to get us out of the situation, or at least get some good stuff for us to spend that time. You can have dinner with your favorite character. And at this dinner you may ask one question. Who would be the character and what would be your one question? I'd like to have dinner with Batman and ask him, what has been the biggest predicament he ever had in life. What's number 1 on your bucket list? (Something you want to do before you leave the planet). Go to Europe. What advice would you give to people getting started in Cosplay? Enjoy yourselves and don't pay much attention to the haters or those guys who have a big lack of humbleness, they are only making a fool of themselves by that,
