About two years ago I went through the process of buying a house in the Yucatan Mexico. My real estate agent located Francisco and we started the paperwork via fax, emails and wire transfers. Francisco kept me up to date on correct destinations for the wire transfers, which by the way was very un-nerving sending large sums of money to somewhere that you didn't know if it would make it or not. Francisco always kept me up to date, notifying me when the funds were received. He also gave me a break down of all costs. After a month of dealing with Francisco through emails the date came to sign the final paperwork on the house. All of us met at Francisco's office in Merida. Me (from the US) the seller (from Canada) and Francisco. I still remember joking with him, asking if his mother knew he was out playing attorney, he looked so young and being a retired police officer, I was a little leery of attorneys to begin with. Francisco had all the paperwork in order both Spanish and English. He assisted with any questions we had and answered them directly. The paperwork was done and after all the money was transferred I finally arrived in Mexico to my new house and there was Francisco again to assist me with the final closing paperwork. With normal real estate attorney stories that would be where my story ends, but not in this case. Francisco continues to this day, two years later, with any needs I have from paying my yearly taxes to changing the name of my electric and water bills. This time he takes from his busy schedule and never asks for compensation. Francisco has become a good friend that I look forward to seeing whenever possible, I have even met his family.
