In stock / en existencia Original Chiapas Mayan Loom-made Market Bags from Southern Mexico Visit the shop for more information: www.xololupito.com... Please review the product varieties and verify availability when ordering! This is an indigenous-made product. These genuine handmade market bags are designed and sewn by the Tzotzil Mayan people of Zinacantán who produce the fabric on traditional waist looms. Zinacantán is Nahuatl for "Place of Bats" (Spanish: "Lugar de Murciélagos", Tzotzil: "Sots'leb"). Despite this name the pueblo is better known as a place of beautiful textiles. Zinacantán fabrics, including the ones on this bag, are handmade on looms in the home, typically by the women and girls of the community. The unique, contrasting, bright patterns on each side could very well be a material example of mother-daughter cooperation, embodying the perpetuation of tradition. Dimensions: 74.4cm (29.3 inches) This octagonal punched metal Talavera mirror is handmade in the family workshop of Mexican artisans from the town of San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato in the central highlands of Mexico. This style of mirror, now famous throughout the world, has origins in Puebla and Guanajuato. This artist's particular techniques were adopted from generations of artisan traditions of the town of San Miguel de Allende, one of Mexico's "pueblos magicos". The ceramic style, called "Talavera", has origins in Spain, although it has differentiated itself in its unique iterations in central Mexico and achieved a new level of artistic distinction. These mirrors are works of art created by talented craftsmen who work every detail of these pieces with their hands.
