Community Spotlight: Juan Antonio & Señora Teresa Take care of other people and somehow The Universe will take care of you.... Juan Antonio, the baby pictured below, was abandoned by his mother a few months back. She had left to find work, placing him in the care of her landlord Señora Teresa, pictured below, yet never came back. Despite meager means, Señora Teresa took Juan Antonio in and now cares for him like her own son. Every day, she brings Juan Antonio to the Vallarta Food Bank soup kitchen so he can have a hot, nutritious meal an essential part of healthy childhood development. As Juan Antonio got bigger, we noticed it was getting harder for her to carry him the long distance over cobblestones. It seemed The Universe had noticed, too. As if on cue, a stroller was donated to the food bank which we excitedly gave to Señora Teresa. If you or someone you know has baby supplies that can be donated to help Señora Teresa raise Juan Antonio, please let us know!
We stopped in to thank Reid and Miranda at Monzón Brewing Co yesterday afternoon for all their support, and the beer was fantastic and refreshing! As it turns out their bartender knew us and mentioned that we had assisted his family. These folks have been supportive of Vallarta and Vallarta Food Bank throughout the pandemic. Just wanted to give them a quick shout out and thank them for their support. Go try some of their hand crafted, ice cold brews asap! Perfect to cool off on a hot afternoon! Thanks guys it was great to catch up!
Woo hoo!!! An anonymous donation was made matching Derek’s 50th celebration in honor of Tracy Parks, Derek, the Incanto staff and the many talented performers who donated their time and talent. Another $13,000 pesos for our food bank. Thank you so much! We love this community.
We’re so grateful for Derek Carkner who just donated $12,734 pesos from the proceeds of his 50th show at Incanto Vallarta. Also a big thank you to Tracy Parks, the owner of the fabulous Incanto and who has always been a big supporter of our food bank. We’re super thankful for all the talented singers who performed today: Amy Armstrong, Effie Passero, Marc Lopez, Alison Lo, Joey and Isaac, Tony Kenneth, Kami Desilets, Diego Guerrero, Roy Gomez Cruz, Tracy Parks and of course Derek Carkner! Francie, Frankie and Jimmy
Thanks to all the folks who contributed to our building fund! The donor tiles finally have a home on the wall here at VFB and we're always adding and improving things. It's an older building and the numbers we serve with low season arriving are ever increasing (some days 650+ meals!) That means we have more work to do expanding our capacity and as always we'd like to offer more services! Thanks to an awesome door guy our interview office and medicine dispensary now has a door... to offer our clients a little more privacy. It is hotter than blazes in there but our hope is to raise enough money to install an inverter AC in the room so the door can actually be closed. We always need more funds to maintain and improve the facility. If you'd like to help please reach out to us and let us know! There's lots of ways to help! If you're interested in a tile we still have plenty of room so send us a message! www.vallartafoodbank.com #VallartaStrong
