Spotted eagle rays (Aetobatus narinari) visit Cozumel waters every winter as they prefer to swim in waters between 75 to 81 F. Their daily movement is influenced by the tides; one tracking study showed that they are more active during high tides. Mature spotted eagle rays can be up to 16 ft in length; the largest have a wingspan of up to 10 ft and a mass of 507 lb. Thanks to Divemaster Norms for the great footage
