La buena #nutrición siempre ha sido una de nuestras prioridades como institución y hemos hecho todo lo posible para que los niños sigan comiendo bien durante la pandemia #WorkingWithLove #TrabajandoConAmor

Today Saturday 15th May is #MPSAwarenessDay, and Pasitosde Luz in #CasaConnor has bathed itself in purple to mark the day MPS stands for Mucopolysaccharidoses, a group of genetic lysosomal storage diseases (LSD) caused by the body’s inability to produce specific enzymes. The missing or insufficient enzyme prevents cells from recycling waste, resulting in the storage of materials in cells throughout the body. As the disease progresses, there is widespread damage throughout ...the body, including the heart, bones, joints, respiratory system and central nervous system, leading to a shortened lifespan. Hunter Syndrome is one type of MPS. Connor Vanderveen, in whose honour our beautiful home, Casa Connor, was built (https://pasitosdeluz.org/home/about/casa-connor/), had Hunter Syndrome and sadly passed away at age 15. For this reason, we are marking #MPSAwarenessDay2021 today, to teach people more about this group of diseases. Que bonita experiencia participar en la EXPO YOUR HEALTH el viernes pasado en #Sayulita Muchas gracias MedTravel Puerto Vallarta por invitarnos y DMC VTA Vallarta-Nayarit por todo su apoyo durante el evento. A project like Pasitosde Luz in #CasaConnor can only thrive by working closely with both our local and international communities. We exist for the kids, to help them be the best they can be, through therapies, classes and other services. This brings hope and joy to many families. We cannot do this alone. The last 14 months of COVID have been very challenging, and we have only reached the point of being able to restart our services thanks to the hard work, patience and support... of many people and organizations. Over the next few weeks, we would like to mention a few of these, since without them it would have been impossible to get to where we are today. The Canadian Children’s Shelter of Hope Foundation (CCSHF) has worked with us since 2008. Its founder and President, Anne-Marie Haynes, heard about a project near Pitillal that was helping children with disabilities. This inspired her to jump on a bus and arrive unannounced at our former home in the Bobadilla neighbourhood. That’s where our story together began! CCSHF takes donations on our behalf in Canada, and helps these Canadian donors get tax deductible receipts. This is vital work and is made possible because of the hard work of a small group of volunteers on the CCSHF Board of Directors. Anne-Marie Haynes and Lars Aberg are two of the main people behind CCSHF. Through the many months of COVID they have facilitated donations of both funds and food! Lars dedicated several months to making and delivering desperately-needed food parcels to Pasitos de Luz families in Puerto Vallarta. Anne-Marie solicited donors and provided tax receipts in Canada. When Friends of Casa Connor held their fundraiser in December 2020, CCSHF stood up and participated by providing tax receipts for the matching donation portion of the fundraiser. This enabled the campaign to raise enough funds to cover 3 months of our operating costs, which has been key to us being able to resume our services.
