Dear Friends & Family, (Traducción abajo) It has taken me several days to write this. Not because of lack of conviction in my decision, but rather due to an ina...bility to express all the sentiments that are in my heart. Just a year after I received my certificate from NCM and still being a bit green around the edges (and a bit naive), I found myself in the role of General Director (July 2019). Then, as I was still learning the ropes, COVID came with its PPE and need for Contingency Protocols and updates and readjustments in the birth center. All of this to say, I took a major leadership role in an established project (8 yrs) at a moment when we were forced to re-adjust just about everything. Change is never easy and being forced to change is even worse and the stress has been overwhelming. And so, as I near the 2-year mark as Director, I find myself needing to step back and in need of flexibility that CC cannot offer. After much consideration and prayer, last week I decided to resign as the General Director of Casa Compasiva and as of June 1st I am also resigning my position as Midwife. I am leaving with a bittersweet taste in my mouth as they say (I am all cliche here recently), excited to see what will come but sad to say good-bye. I love Casa Compasiva and over the years I have bonded with the women who serve and have served there. I have learned from each one of them and they will forever be branded on my heart. Many of the women I have attended are now my personal friends. I love you all dearly and hope to keep in communication! No por falta de convicción en mi decisión, sino por no poder expresar todos los sentimientos que tengo en mi corazón. Después de apenas un año de haber recibido mi diploma del Colegio Nacional de Partería (National College of Midwifery) y todavía siendo un poco "verde" (y quizás "inocente") me encontré repentinamente en el rol de Directora General (Julio 2019). Entonces, cuando aun estaba aprendiendo como trabajar, llegó el COVID con sus métodos preventivos y protocolos por contingencia y actualizaciones y ajustes en la casa de partos. Todo esto para decir que tome un rol mayor de liderazgo en un proyecto establecido (8 años) en un momento cuando nos vimos forzadas a re-ajustar casi todo. El cambio nunca es fácil y sentir forzada a cambiar es aun peor y el estrés ha sido agobiante. Entonces, ahora que se acerca el cumplir dos años como Directora, encuentro la necesidad de tomar un paso hacia atrás y necesito flexibilidad que CC no puede ofrecer. Después de mucha oración y consideración, la semana pasada decidí renunciar como la Directora General de Casa Compasiva y a partir del 1 de Junio renuncio mi puesto de Partera. Me voy con un sabor agri-dulce como dicen... emocionada por ver que sigue, pero también triste de decir adiós. Amo a Casa Compasiva y con los años he formado vinculo con las que sirven y han servido en CC. He aprendido algo de cada uno de ustedes y van a estar grabadas siempre en mi corazón. Muchas de las mamás que he atendida ahora son mis amigas personales y es una bendición. Las quiero a todas profundamente y espero que podemos seguir en comunicación!
