Mel Brooks (a huge inspiration to me as a kid) says political correctness is the death of comedy, and says comedy must push limits. I'm not sure I personally un...derstand where Mel draws the line (he says everything besides gas chambers and Nazis killing children is okay - so does that mean Hutus slaughtering children is okay?) But I do sympathize with him overall, and I do in general have a visceral and unpleasant reaction when I'm told there are certain subjects "you just can't joke about." In my family, the way we always dealt with tragedy and sadness was through humor and, for me, that applies to public entertainment as well. See more
