LA INCUBACIÓN DE LOS MEGAPODOS Los megapodos son aves galliformes nativos de la región de Australasia. Destacan porque no incuban sus huevos con el calor de su ...cuerpo como lo hacen otras aves,. Su metodo consiste en colocar los huevos dentro de un montículo de arena, en cuyo interior se coloca materia orgánica putrefacta que al descomponerse genera el calor suficiente para la incubación de los huevos. De esa manera la hembra queda libre de las labores de empollamiento, y solo se preocupa de medir regular de la temperatura del montículo, para lo cual utiliza su lengua a modo de termómetro. Si la temperatura es mayor a la necesaria, el ave retirará un poco de arena para disipar el calor. Si es menor, aumentará la cantidad de materia orgánica.

Demanda química de oxígeno (DQO) VERSUS Demanda biológica de oxígeno (DBO) La DBO es la cantidad de oxígeno que consumen las bacterias mientras descomponen la ...materia orgánica en condiciones aeróbicas. La DQO es la cantidad de oxígeno necesaria para la oxidación total de la materia orgánica en el agua. La DBO es un proceso de oxidación biológica. La DQO es un proceso de oxidación química. La DBO requiere de cinco días para su determinación. La medición de DQO se puede tomar a partir de pocos días u horas. La DBO se mide manteniendo una muestra de agua sellada durante un período de 5 días a 20 C. En la prueba de DQO, la muestra de agua se incuba con un oxidante fuerte en combinación con ácido sulfúrico durante un período específico de tiempo y temperatura. El valor de DQO es siempre mayor que el valor de DBO.
