Regarding Delta From Trina Lawry Looks like we are in for a lot more heavy rain and who knows how much wind. Many will lose power....so let’s all share t...ips on how to prepare. Here are some ideas to start: 1. Lower your pool as much as possible. 2. If you have a freezer, fill a clear container with water and freeze it. Then add a coin to the top. If we lose power and when it comes back on again, if the coin is at the bottom of the container you will know that everything in your freezer defrosted and froze again. 3. If your water purification system runs on electricity, fill a big pot of water for drinking. Of just buy a few garafons. 4. If you normally grind fresh coffee beans every morning, grind up a week’s worth, so you can make coffee. 5 Put towels or water absorbent socks/snakes in front of your windows and doors before the water starts to leak in. 6. Have enough food on hand for several days to a week. 7. Get our your candles, lanterns, flashlights or whatever you have now, so you don’t have to look for them in the dark. 8. If you have a roof deck or just plants in pots in the yard, put your plants and furniture somewhere safe so they won’t blow away or break. 9. Make sure your roof drains aren’t clogged. 10. Keep your cell phones, ipads, etc. fully charged. 11. If your gas tank is on the roof, fill it up. Strong winds can blow it off. Same with tanacas. 12. Have extra batteries around 13. Make sure your prescriptions are full. 14. Don’t forget your pets. Make sure they have enough food too. 15. Roll your carpets up now. 16. Check the caulk around your windows and caulk where the sun has cracked it. 17. If power goes out, unplug as much as possible in case of a power surge. 18. Download movies to your I-pad so you can still watch them without power. 19. Get out playing cards or boardgames. and oldfashioned real books! 20. Make sure the tracks in your sliders are clean so they drain. 21. Have back up phone chargers. Stay dry and safe!
