I was recently asked "what is the cheapest way to get from the airport in Cancun to tulum?" This was my reply: There is cheap and there is convenient - but you can't have both! Super convenient and very reasonable for a group is a private shuttle for up to 7 people and their luggage - runs $100-165USD ROUND TRIP, waiting for you at the exit of the airport terminal when you arrive, deliver you to the door in Tulum in about 1 hour 20 minutes. At about $13 per person each way and a limited number of direct departures each day at about 2 hours travel time (not including waiting for the next bus), or even longer with connections in PDC. A private shuttle quickly pays off if there are more than 2 or 3 traveling and you value your time visiting more than the savings! Maybe it's just me but arriving at the airport at 7am after a "red-eye" flight and being greeted by my personal driver as I walk out the door then being delivered to the door of my condo in under an hour and a half is TOTALLY worth the price - even when I'm traveling alone!
