There ara hundreds of cenotes throughout the Riviera Maya. In Tulum we find several already registered and another great part still to be discovered. There are open, semi-open and subway cenotes. A good place for snorkeling, swimming, diving and spelunking For the Mayas, they were sacred places because they believed they were connected to the underworld (Xibalbá), where their gods and spirits resided after death. Unfortunately, we found many of them very polluted or turn...ed into septic tanks. And from them and from the aquifers, most of the water needed in the peninsula is obtained.
