Not many of you will know how hard Joe, supported by his family and office team, has worked to make the Los Barriles Food Bank a reality. We couldn't have done it without him - the sourcing of supplies, ration budgeting and logistics. Unfortunately the strain of the summer's pandemic, and his own personal battle with COVID-19 as a diabetic, has take a huge toll on his businesses and his health. That's why we are urging people who haven't yet to sign up to become a member ...of Joe's Premium Club. With the upfront investment, Joe is able to secure the items that we all need as a community so that his shelves are stocked on your return. Please, please consider helping Joe out. Yes we know everyone has been hit hard across town, but the Premium Club is truly a win-win and was a HUGE success last year. We have already put our money where our mouth is and secured our memberships! If you would like to renew, or join as a new member, then please email [email protected]. Just as a reminder, Joe's Premium Club offers these extra special benefits: 1. An addition $200 US of credit at Joe’s Deli. 2. No charge to Costco orders. 3. Products ordered on your behalf - if we are able to get them. 4. Premium Club Member identity card. As per last year, the cost is $1,000 US. Immediately on receipt of the monies, you can spend, spend, spend at the Deli! This season, the Deli will be adding more lines, more variety and changing the store layout to make it bigger and better. New products and services will include: 1. Grocery deliveries to your door in light of COVID-19. 2. More dessert and cake choices. 3. Fresh CORN tortillas made on the premises. 4. ** The Los Barriles Food Bank: The End is Nigh** We are happy, and sad, to say that the Los Barriles Food Bank is near the end of its mission. We will no longer be distributing food every other week to our communities. Instead, we will be switching to a voucher system where vouchers will be distributed to the most deserving by key community leaders those people who have been instrumental in helping us over the past few months. This voucher system will continue until the e...nd of November when the final rations and remaining small amount of money left will be exhausted. Vouchers will be redeemed at Joe’s Deli where Joe and his team are working hard now to create tailored ration boxes that will incorporate the existing foodstuffs such as beans, rice, flour, lentils and vegetables. A final and very big thank you to both the ‘human’ and the ‘dog’ foodbank volunteer teams (so many people to name but you know you are!) and especially to the coordinators such as Pamela, Jim, Heather, Mike and Doug - as well as local community leaders who did so much. Our original mission was always to help bridge the gap between the lockdown and people returning to work. With the amazing support of our donors, we hope that we have been able to ease the burden on our community through these unprecedented times.
