We have a growing global crisis with trash and conta...minants in our oceans but, you can help! Every Sunday we pick up trash and clean the beach and estuary in La Mision. We meet at La Mision Public Beach, we start @ 7am. We provide gloves, trash bags, masks, and water. You will meet some great people, have a great time, and get some great exercise! When we do TEAMWORK look what we accomplish! Although tourists bring much-needed revenue into our community they also leave unwanted trash and contaminants on ...our beautiful beaches and estuaries. This morning we were able to band together with the help of ZOFEMAT, Mariano from Kayak la Misión, beach vendors, volunteers, and a homeless person and restore our beach and estuary! As the tide rises ...and falls, water depth and chemistry change, creating a wide range of habitats. Could we be luckier than to have our very own Estuary in La Mision!! WHAT an incredible morning cleaning the La Mision Beach and Estuary! Dedicated volunteers and people who understand the impact trash and contaminants have on o...ur environment and sealife gathered to haul tons of garbage to the proper receptacles. We were especially challenged today as we have many visitors for Easter and many don't realize the damage they are doing by not securing their trash into appropriate places. YOU can make a difference! Part of healing Mother Earth and especially our oceans is educating our next generation on the importance of taking care of the environment we live in. La Misio...n Beach and Estuary is a part of that mission and we could not be more excited that this Sunday we get to celebrate Earth Day just a bit early with local children and children from Tijuana! You will not want to miss the fun and be a part of helping our playa and estuary be healthy for all generations to come! We meet at 7 am at the public beach in Mission. The bags were bigger than some of the kids but what an INCREDIBLE morning with kids and adults producing a successful trash removal campaign at La Mision Beach ...and Estuary!! We had more volunteers who joined the cause, and once again we enticed the campers to join the campaign and thus we celebrated Earth Day in advance. La Mision Beach and Estuary project is committed to working on educating people about environmental care and teaching children not to leave garbage and to take care of our beach and estuary. We place two signs, one at the Estero and the other at the beach where we invite VISITORS to keep the beach and estuary clean. YOU can be part of this fantastic project!!
