PEANA y LABOR presentan la exposición La memoria que no recordamos, una muestra colectiva que se podrá visitar durante el transcurso de cuatro semanas en PEANA, desde el 21 de noviembre hasta el 23 de diciembre. La exposición reúne el trabajo de Héctor Zamora, Roger White, Tezontle, SANGREE, Pedro Reyes, Gala Porras-Kim, Jerónimo Elespe, Manuela de Laborde, Tomas Díaz Cedeño, Wendy Cabrera Rubio, ASMA. Esta primera colaboración entre las dos galerías nace con la intención d...e ofrecer nuevas experiencias y abrir nuevos espacios para la imaginación y el diálogo entre las dos ciudades, potenciando el intercambio de conversaciones artísticas y estilísticas entre artistas establecidos y de mediana de carrera. La memoria que no recordamos pretende abrir diálogos entre los temas y las estéticas de nuestra historia, de nuestro pasado, y ponerlos de relieve a través del prisma de los artistas contemporáneos y coetáneos a nuestra época. . PEANA and LABOR are pleased to present the exhibition "The Memory We Don't Recall", a group show that will be on display during the course of four weeks at PEANA, from November 21st to December 23rd. The exhibition brings together the work of Héctor Zamora, Roger White, Tezontle, SANGREE, Pedro Reyes, Gala Porras-Kim, Jerónimo Elespe, Manuela de Laborde, Tomas Díaz Cedeño, Wendy Cabrera Rubio, ASMA. This first collaboration between the two galleries is intended as an opportunity to offer new experiences and open new spaces for imagination and dialogue between the two cities, stimulating the exchange of artistic and stylistic conversations between established and mid-career artists. Siete obras centrales de la serie The Barragán Archives pasan a formar parte de la colección permanente del Centre Pompidou, al igual que The Proposal (2018), largometraje documental galardonado. The Barragán Archives es una investigación multimedia enfocada en el legado del arquitecto mexicano #LuisBarragán. Aunque el archivo ...personal y la mayor parte de su arquitectura permanecen en México, su archivo profesional fue adquirido por la empresa suiza Vitra, quien lo mantiene en gran medida fuera de alcance. ¿Qué implica que el legado de un artista sea propiedad de una corporación? Al verse negado el acceso al archivo profesional y advertida acerca del riesgo de infringir los derechos de autor en caso de reproducir su trabajo, Magid tomó esta advertencia como una invitación que definiría el marco conceptual de su proyecto por los siguientes años. Entering into the Centre Pompidou permanent collection are seven central works from Magid’s The Barragán Archives series, as well as The Proposal (2018), the award-winning feature-length documentary. The Barragán Archives is a multi-media investigation centered around the legacy of Mexican architect #LuisBarragán. What does it mean for an artist’s legacy to be owned by a corporation? While most of his architecture and his personal archive remain in Mexico, his professional archive was acquired by the Swiss company Vitra, where it has remained largely inaccessible. When refused access to his professional archive and warned of the risk of copyright infringement if she reproduced his work, Magid took this warning as an invitation, shaping the conceptual framework for her project for the next few years. This project honors a major figure in the Mexican and now more than ever Universal architectural heritage. La serie fue realizada a partir de imágenes en baja resolución obtenidas en internet que representan catástrofes ecológicas. Por medio de telares Jacquard, fueron posteriormente transformadas en textiles en los que el artista ocultó a plena vista los n...ombres de evasores fiscales, recurriendo a la esteganografía, técnica habitualmente empleada por hackers y activistas para encriptar información. #HéctorZamora es uno de los 50 artistas seleccionados para participar en la 4ta #BienalMediterránea que tendrá lugar del 6 de abril al 15 de junio 2021 en la ciudad de Haifa y en el Valle de Sakhnin (Israel). Héctor Zamora presentará el video Inconstância Material (2013), que documenta el performance homónimo presentado en la 13 Bienal de Estambul en 2013. Esta acción involucra a 36 albañiles arrojándose entre ellos ladrillos de terracota mientras se desplazan en el espaci...o expositivo dibujando un intricado patrón. Junto al gesto material, intercambian palabras que simulan las de un día de construcción cualquiera, pero que son en realidad una obra escrita por el poeta Nuno Ramos para acompañar la obra física. Labor y PEANA projects se complacen en presentar su segunda colaboración como parte de la Semana del Arte Zsona Maco México Arte Contemporáneo2021 en la CDMX. Las cosas suceden de forma silenciosa reúne el trabajo de Jorge Satorre y del dúo ASMA, con el propósito de explorar sus puntos de contacto y de contraste. Flores musculosas, ratones dealers, manos sin cuerpo, y águilas risueñas habitan el espacio expositivo sugiriendo una multiplicidad de narrativas abiertas. Cada uno ...de estos artistas genera tensiones entre el registro de la realidad y la ficción, la verdad y el mito, la proyección del deseo y la adopción de cuerpos ajenos, apelando a la vez a un reconocimiento de la otredad. El trabajo de Jorge Satorre desarrolla como una serie de respuestas a rastros excluidos de momentos históricos en contextos diversos con los que se relaciona. ASMA por su lado recurre a la mitología, la literatura psicológica, la cultura popular y a los futuros alternos. Things happen in a silent way brings together the work of Jorge Satorre and the duo ASMA with the purpose of exploring their points of contact but also of contrast. Muscular flowers, mice who are dealers, disembodied hands, and laughing eagles inhabit the exhibition space, evoking a multiplicity of open narratives. Each of these artists generates tension between the portrayal of reality and fiction, truth and myth; the projection of desire and the adoption of foreign bodies, while appealing to the recognition of otherness. Estamos muy contentos de anunciar que A World Undone (2012) de #NicholasMangan fue adquirido por la Tate y el Museum of Contemporary Art Australia como parte del Programa Internacional de Adquisición Conjunta apoyado por Qantas. Para la realización de esta película, el artista usó el martillo de geólogo de su abuelo para destruir una roca que contenía en su interior cristales de circón formados 4.400 millones de años atrás, siendo los minerales más antiguos conocidos sobre ...la Tierra. Esta acción, filmada con una cámara capaz de capturar el movimiento a una velocidad de 2500 fotogramas por segundo, funge como la metáfora de un futuro inquietante e inevitable. To make this film, Mangan used his grandfather’s geological hammer to smash a rock containing 4.400 Million year zircon crystals, the oldest mineral found on earth. The action was filmed with a camera that captures movement at a speed of 2500 frames per second, a metaphor for a worrying and inevitable future.
