Les alebrijes sont des tailles en bois avec des formes très différentes. Chaque artisan produit ses pièces d'une manière spéciale: pour certains, les couleurs et l'esthétique sont le plus important, tandis que pour autres, l'histoire "derrière" la pièce est le sujet central. La maître Vicente Hernández et sa famille ont hérité leur technique des grands-parents et eux mêmes de leur ancêtres. Les Hernández produisent des travaux très originels qui parlent d'un moment dans le t...emps où la "mode" alebrije n'était pas encore relié aux détails fins, mais plutôt au bois que l'on trouvait dans la forêt sans avoir besoin de couper les branches ou troncs.
