RFID - During World War II, radars warned of approaching planes. But they could not identify if the detected aircraft was an enemy or if it belonged to their own or an allied army. The Germans noticed that if their pilots rolled the planes as they approached, the reflected radar signal changed and in this way they could tell if these planes were friends or foes. The inventor of radar, Robert Alexander Watson-Watt, also developed the first system for identifying friend or foe (IFF). Thanks to this system, the British installed a transmitter in every British aircraft. These transmitters received the radar signals and then emitted a signal that identified them as friends.
