SOME LIKE IT HOT ! @ The Gertrude Pearlman Theatre First Tuesday of March We are showing a well known and loved vintage film March 3rd 4 pm. Doors open at 3. Donations Only. Proceeds benefit the Gertrude Pearlman Theatre this time. Because it's our film :).... Just in case you only remember that it stars Marylin Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon here is a synopsis of Some Like It Hot: After witnessing a Mafia murder, slick saxophone player Joe (Tony Curtis) and his long-suffering buddy, Jerry (Jack Lemmon), improvise a quick plan to escape from Chicago with their lives. Disguising themselves as women, they join an all-female jazz band and hop a train bound for sunny Florida. While Joe pretends to be a millionaire to win the band's sexy singer, Sugar (Marilyn Monroe), Jerry finds himself pursued by a real millionaire (Joe E. Brown) as things heat up and the mobsters close in. Sounds like a fun may to spend an couple of hours on a Tuesday afternoon. GERTRUDE PEARLMAN THEATRE Presents: ANAHUAC FOLKLORICO Feb 29th 2 pm Saturday afternoon SUGGESTED DONATION: $200 MN / $10 US... I had the opportunity to see "our kids" perform last weekend. I was so impressed with the show. Gladys, the instructor/choreographer, has created dances to represent a diverse span of cultures, within the capabilities of a very young group of dancers. Some of our ninos are only 6 years old. The dancers have memorized many steps and sequences to present dances for our pleasure. The costuming is exceptional. Keep in mind this is a local group with dedicated families who support their kids avocation and cultural education. I am so proud that our Gertrude Pearlman Theatre has chosen them as 'beneficiary' of the 501c3 we are. Do yourself a favor; come to their show on the 29th @ 2pm. They are handling all aspects of the performance, all donations go directly to them. See what all of your support has done. I am sure you will want to continue to support them. Four of your friends and neighbors have been rehearsing for several weeks to bring this comedy to you. Irka Davis (Kitchen Witch #1) Kathleen Taromina (Kitchen Witch #2) Aaron Althouse and David Gandy are the cast. Behind the scenes are Thomas Rogan (Sound) and Tom Ricker (Lights). In the LOBBY bringing us the many special hors d'oeuvers she and her crew prepare for our enjoyment are, Wendy Ricker, Shannon Silva, Marjo Aardema, Barbara MacKinnon. There are even more fol...ks who support the efforts to present a play to you. Remember, all donations go to maintain the theatre and the Children's Folkloric Ballet troupe.
