This is not one of my favorite drinks, but I seem to be in the minority. Let me know what you think. https://www.mexicoinmykitchen.com/horchata-recipe/
My forever home. I am where I was meant to be.
The beauty of retiring to Mexico lies within its close proximity to home, whether that be Canada or the United States. The beauty of the country and laid-back feel of the culture are also big selling points. The real question is, which part of Mexico would be best? Some areas are obviously going to be better than others and, lately, the big question has been, should we retire to Lake Chapala? Here are a few reasons why you should at least consider it as an option. https://www.escapeartist.com//6-reasons-retire-lake-chapa/
This reflects a lot of Bill's and my experience of retiring in Mexico, except we came on a Thursday, saw one house on Friday and bought it on Saturday. lol Over 16 years later, we know we made the right decision. Also, we jumped into learning Spanish because we knew we were here forever, and you can't experience the culture if you refuse to learn the language...IMO "In reflection of the last couple of years he remarks almost wistfully that being in Mexico is teaching him so much; helping him to slow down and widen his perspectives; encouraging him to enjoy what is, and not live in continual resistance." https://www.mexperience.com/a-journey-to-retirement-in-mex/
We love the photos of Focus alumnus, Bernd Peter Sawatzki. If you do too, check out more that you can purchase at https://www.berndseyeview.com/
If Lake Chapala could speak for itself, Mark Twain’s famous comment might come to mind: The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated. https://www.mexconnect.com/articles/1568-a-season-of-hope/
Not only do we have great weather in Ajijic (we don't need a furnace or air conditioner), but we're right in your backyard. Easy to drive and easy to fly north. https://www.prweb.com//worlds_best_weath/prweb17692679.htm
"The Lake Chapala & Ajijic Mexico area is a beautiful and magical place that thousands of people from all over the world call their home. Our goal with the following video is to show you it's beauty, but through a different perspective, from above. When we started filming it, we did not know it would turn out as well as it did. See for yourself and understand why the team at Access Lake Chapala invested so much effort and time into this video." https://www.youtube.com/watch

Expat Communities in Mexico Upwards of 10,000 foreigners, mostly Americans and Canadians, call the lakeside communities in Mexico home, each village wedged between the shore and the sharp rise of the Sierra Madres. These North American transplants hire gardeners, maids, medical care services or builders, so teaching English to the Mexican workforce turns out to be both rewarding and necessary.... https://www.goworldtravel.com/expat-lake-chapala-mexico/
The only comment I disagree with is "You don’t have to worry about learning the local language if you don’t want to, because this is an entire community of non-locals." It is NOT an entire community of non-locals! There are definitely Native Mexicans here and if you want to integrate into the community, you should learn the language the best you can. Don't be the Ugly Expat who thinks everyone should speak English. You're cutting yourself out of a great cultural experience if you make the effort! https://wtop.com//01/the-best-places-to-retire-in-mexico-2/
Jalisco is where Lake Chapala is located. https://www.journeymexico.com//the-safest-states-and-desti
