I don’t think many people know about Sister Rosetta, so, as Black History Month comes to a... close today, today is as good a day as ever to highlight her. Rock n Roll was, for all intents and purposes, invented by a black woman. Sister Rosetta was active in music as a recording artist from 1938 to her death in 1973...pioneering use of the electric guitar as we are familiar with today. You’ll recognize a lot of now-common techniques in this video. She was a major influence on everyone who is said to have ‘invented’ rock...Chuck Berry, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and so on. Sister Rosetta was there when rock n roll was born, because she was the creator - the one who made it happen. Learn about Sister Rosetta and listen to her music.
