Sin embargo, gracias a esta suposición se... puede reflexionar y analizar si es correcto utilizar el IPC como un índice de coste de vida. En el ejemplo se analiza el índice de Laspayres pero también se suele utilizar el índice de Paasche que sólo cambia el denominador por el año actual. Ambos índices buscan entender el ratio ideal para que una persona pueda vivir con el mismo nivel de utilidad dado su restricción presupuestaria basándose en dos años diferentes.
