Today's Favorite Image: Over the weekend Maurine and I were chatting about the theme for this week's Favorite Images. She asked if I had done cephalopods. I h...aven't! (For those of you who don't know, cephalopod means head-footed. Cephalopods are Mollusks, which means they have a shell...buried somewhere in their life cycle. Cephalopods include octopus, cuttlefish, squid and nautilus.) So this will be Octopus Week! Today's offering is from an amazing divesite called Beangabang off Pantar Island (near Alor), Indonesia. This Mototi octopus is oddly colored and even more oddly...posing on a Fire Urchin. You will notice that the Mototi octopus has a blue-ring (actually all you see is half a blue ring...look below its eye). It is poisonous like its famed and deadly "cousin" the Blue-ring Octopus.
