Joe was seen by Martin Romo on the streets of San Felipe. Working with Dr Solis and SFDR this special guy now has a future. Joe is a 35 lb lab, Baja Blend. It is estimated that he is approximately 4-5 years old. Joe is currently being treated for sever tick fever that required a blood transfusion. He will require medication and medical for at least one month. Joe also has a large tumor on his neck that will require surgery. Joe is currently recovering and healing under the care of San Felipe Dog Rescue. If you would like to specifically sponsor Joe he could use your help. At San Felipe Dog Rescue we understand that not everyone is in a position to foster. You can sponsor Joe or any of the other dogs in our facility no matter where you live.

From its inception your Felipe Dog Rescue executive board have promised you, the volunteers, co-workers, in fact everyone involved with your SFDR complete transparency. This, especially as it relates to you, our supporters. Sfdr is after all, your organization. With that goal in mind, we'd like to share with you the approximate monthly expenses in US dollars that you may expect after our furloughs and other necessary reductions in costs are made.... Because of the constant fluctuation in dog and puppy population and health, some of these expenses will change from month to month while others will remain constant. These numbers are in USD. Veterinary and Medications: Approx. $3000.00 Payroll: Approx. $2000.00 Web services: $100.00 Wifi: $20.00 Dog food: Approx. $900.00 Water: $122.00 Electric: Approx. $102 Garbage: $43.00 Septic: $84.00* Total of Approx. $6371.00 USD of monthly expenses. *We are looking into replacement of the current septic tank with a septic system with leaching capability that will greatly reduce this expense. Bids will be in for review next week. For ways to get involved as a volunteer, to learn how to adopt or to help your SFDR with a tax deductible donation please visit our website at: www.sanfelipedogrescue.org

CANELITA AND HER PUPS Canelita was rescued off of the streets of San Felipe by a mother and her children. Canelita was homeless, malnourished, sick and pregnan...t. She was given a second chance at San Felipe Dog Rescue. Canelita was treated and diagnosed by Dr Solis. She had Tick Fever. It's always a concern when a pregnant momma requires medications that could effect her unborn or nursing pups. Canelita was recovering and adding weight, when she delivered 8 pups. Unfortunately the stress of the delivery and loss of blood once again triggered her Tick Fever. We lost one pup within the first 24 hours. The volunteers and staff at the Bed and Biscuit worked around the clock to get Canelita back on the road to recovery and save the remainder of her pups. Now Canelita is doing well. She is caring for her 7 pups on her own! Canelita has a home once the pups have been weined with the momma and children who saved her from the horrible life on the streets. A happy ending for all. Thank you Vickie to you and your staff and the volunteers who saved the lives of this mama and her puppies! See more

We are San Felipe Dog Rescue... And this is what we do! This has got to be a first! As I was in the process of writing a short story about Lucy, a relatively new arrival at SFDR, being cared for by Auntie Vickie at Baja Bed and Biscuit I received word to stop the presses!... It turns out that Lucy, after being in Auntie's care for only six days has been adopted!! Lucy will be going with her new Daddy to live a new and wonderful life in San Diego, California. These are the kind of stories that make our hearts smile and gives us the energy to do it all again tomorrow. For this is a story of two souls finding each other. We sometimes forget that many times both four legged and two legged lives are drawn inexplicably together as if that was the way it was always meant to be. Our blessings come in the form of being the conduit that help it all happen. If you'd like to learn more about what your SFDR is doing, would like to get involved as a volunteer or can help us with a monthly donation please visit our website at: www.sanfelipedogrescue.org

Sammy is the lover of the Baja Bed and Biscuit playground. He has a personality that says....how can I make you happy today??? He's filled with energy and loves to be loved. When Sammy came to us he was homeless. He was found on the streets of San Felipe salvaging for food. The poor guy was malnourished and sick. But that was then, this is now....... Sammy has come a long way from being that lost, lonely, hungry dog. Now, healthy, happy and loving life he has a new beginning he'd love to share. Sammy is a 1- 1/2 years old boxer mix. He weighs in at 45 solid pounds of fun. Sammy is a classic Boxer, red and white in color. He thoroughly enjoys humans, other dogs of all sizes, and he loves food, food and more food. The more toys and balls he has the better. Sammy is trained on a leash, sits and downs. He is a big lug who just needs someone to make him part of the family. Since being at Baja Bed and Biscuit, auntie Vickie and trainer Peggy have drawn out that wonderful personality and disposition that was hidden for so long. If you'd like more information about Sammy, other ready to adopt doggies, would like information on how to get involved with your SFDR and of course donate please go to our website at: www.sanfelipedogrescue.org

This tiny girl was found on the streets in Mexacali. She was so matted that it was difficult for her to move. How she survived in the heat on those hot streets is a miracle. Four hours later, and a complete makeover by groomer Marlem at Baja Bed and Biscuit this little four pound girl is ready for her new life with her new momma and new name.

Greetings Dog Fans. Remember me? I'm JOE. I was starving, living on the streets of San Felipe when Martin Romo spotted me. I had lived on the streets of San Felipe for a long, long time. While trying to survive on the streets, dodging cars, constantly searching for water, food and shelter I gotta tell you it was not a good life. My definition of a good day was just surviving. I was one sick guy but somehow I managed to stay alive. As you can probably see from the pictures, I... have a large tumor hanging from my neck. While doing my check-up, Dr Solis also discovered that I have tick fever and I'm in kidney failure. I was rescued off of the streets and taken to San Felipe Dog Rescue. Because of my special health needs I was placed in the care of a very nice lady at Baja Bed and Biscuit. Everybody here at The Biscuit calls her Auntie Vickie. Since being rescued I have discovered people who love me. I get FOUR meals a day. Oh if my doggie friends could see me now! The food here is awesome! Liver, chicken and some kind of a special kibble. But if I had to choose I'd have to say that the liver is my mostest favorite. Did I mention that I really LOVE the liver? I'm feeling so much better. My coat is now clean and soft. And guess what.... all of my wounds have healed! Auntie Vickie was so happy and proud of me when at my latest appointment with Dr Solis told Auntie Vickiy how good I am now doing. I've gained 3 lbs, and my blood work has greatly improved. Although my kidney function is better I'm not out of the woods yet. So, for now I cannot have the tumor removed because Dr Solis is concerned about the anesthesia. I still continue to need three medications everyday. When I can finally have the tumor removed it is going to be very expensive. The cost will be $500.00. If you could donate to help offset my medical care it would be greatly appreciated. You can donate specifically for me at www.sanfelipedogrescue.org Or at Dr. Solis veterinary clinic and of course here at Baja Bed and Biscuit. Keep following my progress, cause I am going to be an amazing success story. I just know there is a human out there just waiting for me to find them and be their bestest bubby.

It is with great sadness we must report your SFDR has been informed that effective immediately our major contributing benefactor must cease funding your SFDR. We were made aware that the sudden and immediate decision of cancellation has been due to the wildfires in California as well as fallout resulting from the Covid19 pandemic. In an effort to reduce our overhead we were forced to make the painful decision to furlough 6 employees. We did not take this decision lightly as y...our SFDR understands and appreciates that these are real people with lives and families that this necessary decision will impact. Amazingly, your SFDR board was far more traumatized by this action than the furloughed employees. Upon notifying them of the situation, they immediately began coming up with ways they might be able to continue supplying your 58 doggies with chicken and rice to continue feeding the dogs and of course laundry soap so as to continue laundering of bedding. Even after being told of the decision to furlough, they began their own fund to help purchase these necessary items for your needy dogs. These are the kind of people that have been working tirelessly on behalf of your SFDR. Finding themselves suddenly unemployed was of secondary concern to these wonderful caregivers. But, that's just who they are. Giving, loving, caregivers. We call on our community of volunteers to step up and help us through this critical time. We need volunteers to help clean, feed and socialize with your SFDR dogs. Please contact us: Vickie Silva 686-172-7882 or Diane Perrigo 686-201-7108 This is a time for each of us to decide if we want to be part of the solution or part of the problem. Doing nothing is in itself a problem, so please do what you can as often as you can. We hope to find another source of funding so as to continue the important work we, along with your support, has made possible. Please continue helping us by continuing your generous monthly tax deductible donations. We will continue our good work on behalf of the dogs of San Felipe for as long as our funding allows. Thank you for your past support as we move into this new and challenging time together. Your SFDR needs you more now than ever before. Please visit our website at www.sanfelipedogrescue.org
